As part of the master plan for all of the Payne County Agencies BKL designed the renovation of the historic Payne County Courthouse. The primary feature of the proposed concept for the expansion and modernization of the Payne County Courthouse is the separation of the components into the two function groups of administrative agencies, and court related operations.

The existing Courthouse has been remodeled to provide five courtrooms with judicial chambers, Court Clerk, District Attorney and Sheriff’s Department offices. The exterior of the building received a complete facelift with a new roof, new windows and a thorough cleaning and repointing of the masonry. The interior work included new offices and courtrooms and a new HVAC system and electrical system.

In 2009 the e adjoining New Payne County Jail was completed, the remodeling of the basement of the courthouse is scheduled to be completed in 2010.
