The
Craig County
Courthouse and Jail project in Vinita, Oklahoma, was completed in the fall of
2007. The new facility is comprised of three main portions, a taller, two-story
structure houses the courthouse proper, a one-story structure for the Sheriff's
office is in the middle and includes the 911 center, another two-story section
houses the modular jail in the northern end of the facility.
The jail has 86 beds
assorted into four separate, two-tier "pods", which can be visually and
electronically monitored from a central control room. There is also an outdoor
prisoner recreation area that is not be visible from outside the courthouse so
that the prisoners can not be seen by the public. The two-story courthouse
houses all of the county offices and includes two full size courtrooms and
judicial chambers. Prisoners are brought into the courtrooms by a secure
elevator that connects directly to the jail. |
