Billy Knowles, AIA, NCARB – Architect, Project Manager – Tulsa, Oklahoma

Mr. Knowles has practiced architecture in Oklahoma since 1963.  As an 11-year employee of Donald H. Honn & Associates, in Tulsa, he provided architectural services for parks, institutional, educational, correctional, religious, and renovation projects.  He was recognized by Better Homes & Gardens for outstanding single family residential design, and his work for the Conner Correctional Center was featured in Progressive Architecture.

The cornerstone of Mr. Knowles career has been the cost-conscious management of projects throughout Oklahoma.  His position as a Construction Arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association Board and his arbitration experience on projects ranging from $1 million to $5 million is evidence of his invaluable skill as a Client-focused manager.

Since 1969, Mr. Knowles has had extensive experience in design, quality assurance, administration, construction review, and management for projects that vary in scope and construction costs.

Mr. Knowles knowledge of financing and his marketing skills have been instrumental in the passage of several sales tax issues that have financed many county projects.  From the setting of the total project budgets, operating cost, staffing analysis, assistance to the county financial advisor and bond counsel, has enabled counties to pass sales tax issues in the 60 and 70 percents.

Mr. Knowles has been involved in the planning, design, management and QA/QC of numerous Public Facilities, Offices, Industrial & Commercial Buildings, Correction Projects, and Construction Management Projects.

Mr. Knowles professional activities include: Criminal Justice Task Force; Okla. Sheriff’s Association; Historic Preservation Society; Amer. Institute of Architects; Amer. Institute of Planning; Amer. Arbitration Association; Amer. Correctional Assoc.; American Jail Assoc.; Okla. Correctional Association; and the American Institute of Architects-Architects for Justice.
